Topic 2 – Targeting secondary sources to enhance access to raw materials
We are looking for a project in Topic 2 (Targeting secondary sources to enhanced access to raw materials) to join as a consortium partner.
Our team has expertise and research capacity in materials characterization, advanced materials synthesis and development of approaches for utilization of industrial residues/wastes. Our contribution to the consortium could include:
- Physicochemical characterization of minerals, industrial wastes, and secondary raw materials; analytical methods: powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, XRF, BET, DTA/DSC, FT-IR, Raman, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and other complementary analytical methods https://imc.bas.bg/ .
- Investigation of chemical composition, structure, and phase transformations of materials;
- Development and optimization of synthesis processes for advanced and functional materials;
- Preparation of materials with potential applications in environmental, energy, and industrial technologies;
- Assessment of opportunities for waste reuse and transformation of industrial residues into high-value products.
The Institute of Mineralogy and Crystallography "Acad. Ivan Kostov" - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMC-BAS) conducts fundamental and applied research in the fields of mineralogy, crystallography, materials science and sustainable management of mineral resources. Its expertise includes the characterization, processing and utilization of primary and secondary raw materials, including industrial by-products and industrial waste such as slags, ashes and other mineral residues, with an emphasis on resource efficiency, circular economy approaches and the development of innovative and sustainable materials.
