Topic 6 – Innovative approaches for analysing raw materials value chains
We are seeking to join a transnational RAMP consortium under Topic 6, positioning ourselves on the domain of end-of-life analysis, explicitly identified as one of the focus areas of this topic. End-of-life is a critical link in the circular economy: it is at this stage that a product's real capacity to re-enter a valorisation loop is decided — or, conversely, where it may escape all traceability and any effective reuse of its materials.
Within this end-of-life phase, the dismantling step is a decisive point of passage, one that is too often under-analysed in current approaches to value chain modelling. It is precisely at this initial stage that the correct orientation of materials is determined — particularly for critical and strategic materials, whose misidentification or mis-sorting at this step irreversibly compromises their recovery and reintegration into a circular loop.
We are looking to join a consortium as a technical partner/subcontractor.
Since 2011, CIDER Engineering has been an engineering and expertise centre dedicated to technical and strategic studies, the deconstruction of heavy equipment, and the recovery/valorisation of complex materials. Our expertise addresses issues that have become increasingly pressing:
Anticipating the growing requirements around product recyclability and end-of-life treatment (eco-design for recycling, factoring in dismantling costs as early as system production).
Mapping hazardous substances at the design stage (REACH, POP, RoHS, etc.).
Analysing the criticality of strategic materials contained in equipment and assessing their recovery potential for reuse (circular economy and short-loop production).
Anticipating or supporting regulatory developments, particularly regarding recovery targets and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
Managing the end-of-life of complex and sensitive systems.
We offer our clients full project management of equipment decommissioning operations, from the study and analysis phases through to the valorisation of Secondary Raw Materials.
We develop, disseminate, and build up recognised expertise on the recyclability potential of end-of-life equipment, with a multi-sector approach (Defence & Civil). Our data is tangible, drawn directly from the industrial world through our two shareholder companies.
