Topic 3 – Efficient and effective use of raw materials in design and production
We support international consortia under Topic 3 by driving lightweight design and waste reduction through industrial metal (SLM) and polymer (FDM) 3D printing, high-precision 3D scanning, topology/generative optimization, and reverse engineering.
In projects, we serve as a piloting provider, prototyping lab, and training developer for high-value components guiding developments from lab-scale validation up to TRL 7 industrial demonstrators.
We seek consortium partnerships where our expertise in metal/polymer additive manufacturing and digital tools will elevate project impact.
Metals Centre Čakovec (MCČ) is an R&D and training hub specializing in advanced metal technologies and resource-efficient production. Our team has extensive experience in EU programs, including EIT Health, M-ERA.NET, Interreg, Erasmus+, and national R&D calls. Key facilities include advanced laboratories equipped for additive manufacturing (FDM and SLM 3D printing technologies), 3D scanner. Additionally, the Centre has dedicated spaces for vocational education and training, enabling professional courses and workshops in 3D modelling, printing, scanning, and reverse engineering. These facilities facilitate collaboration, innovation, and knowledge transfer among researchers, industry professionals, and educational institutions. The use of modern additive technologies makes it possible to produce complex-shaped products with high precision and significantly less material waste. As a result, we can create sustainable materials with reduced material waste, energy usage, and machine emissions.
