Topic 1 - Ensuring a resilient supply of raw materials from primary sources
greenLi is seeking to join or help form an international consortium for RAMP Joint Call 2026 – Topic 1, focused on developing sustainable technologies for the extraction, refining and processing of lithium from primary aqueous resources.
greenLi is developing a modular “brine-to-battery” technology platform that can contribute across multiple stages of the lithium value chain. Our two breakthrough technologies are:
Membrane Lithium Extraction (MLE) – TRL 4: A modular membrane-based system for selectively extracting and concentrating lithium from aqueous resources. MLE is designed to operate across a broad range of feed concentrations and water chemistries, enabling lithium recovery from concentrated resources – including salar brines, Li-rich groundwater, produced water from oil & gas operations and lithium-processing streams – as well as dilute resources such as geothermal brines and other low-concentration Li-bearing waters.
This versatility creates two complementary opportunities: improving the efficiency, recovery and economics of conventional lithium extraction and DLE operations, while also enabling lithium production from dilute aqueous resources that are difficult to access economically with current technologies. MLE is designed for continuous, modular scale-up using commercial-off-the-shelf reverse-osmosis pressure vessels and related water-treatment infrastructure.
Direct Cathode Manufacture (DCM) – TRL 3: An emerging downstream electrochemical process designed to capture lithium from an aqueous lithium-bearing stream and transfer it directly into cathode active material. DCM is being developed to bypass conventional intermediate lithium-salt production and subsequent conversion steps, creating a potential pathway from extracted lithium directly to high-value battery materials and further shortening the conventional lithium supply chain.
The technologies can be deployed independently or, as they mature, integrated into an end-to-end pathway from aqueous lithium resources to battery materials. We are particularly interested in collaborating with resource owners and operators; lithium producers and refiners; complementary extraction, separation and processing technology developers; geological and resource experts; process and pilot-scale engineers; cathode and battery-material manufacturers; and partners providing LCA/TEA, independent validation and industrial demonstration capabilities.
Our objective is to build a complementary international consortium capable of demonstrating a more efficient and sustainable pathway from primary aqueous lithium resources through selective extraction, refining and processing to high-value materials for the battery supply chain.
greenLi Extraction Technologies Ltd. is an Israeli critical-minerals technology company developing innovative solutions for recovering lithium from aqueous resources and converting it into high-value materials for the battery supply chain.
greenLi’s technology originated from research at Tel Aviv University’s Water & Energy Lab and combines expertise in environmental engineering, membrane science, electrochemistry, process engineering and battery materials. The company is developing two complementary technology platforms: Membrane Lithium Extraction (MLE), a selective membrane-based process for recovering and concentrating lithium from a wide range of aqueous sources; and Direct Cathode Manufacture (DCM), an emerging electrochemical process designed to convert lithium recovered from aqueous streams directly into cathode active material.
MLE is based on greenLi’s proprietary lithium-selective membrane technology and is designed as a continuous, modular process compatible with commercial reverse-osmosis hardware and existing water- and brine-processing infrastructure. This architecture is intended to facilitate rapid scale-up and integration into industrial facilities while enabling application to both conventional lithium resources and lower-concentration aqueous sources.
greenLi combines scientific research with in-house engineering, electrochemistry, intellectual-property and commercialization capabilities. Its multidisciplinary team includes specialists in environmental and water engineering, selective membranes, mechanical and process engineering, electrochemistry and cathode materials, supported by senior expertise in industrial water infrastructure, project development and international partnerships.
The company is advancing its technologies through laboratory validation, membrane manufacturing scale-up and industrial pilot development with the objective of establishing scalable, resource-efficient pathways for lithium production. greenLi’s broader vision is to shorten and decentralize the lithium value chain by enabling lithium-bearing water to become a viable feedstock for sustainable production of battery materials.
