Topic 2 – Targeting secondary sources to enhance access to raw materials
CTT-3Nanosae seek to join in a consortium on chain CRM recovering from waste. Potential feedstocks include spent batteries, waste electrical and electronic equipment, end-of-life permanent magnets, industrial residues, process waters, mine tailings and other anthropogenic waste streams.
CTT‑3NanoSAE – Nanosciences and Alternative Energy Sources Technology Transfer Centre is a research and technology-transfer unit of the University of Bucharest, affiliated with the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest and hosted within the Faculty of Physics. The centre works at the intersection of physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering. Its activities include functional nanomaterials, electrochemistry, batteries and supercapacitors, fuel cells and hydrogen technologies, microbial bioenergy systems, environmental technologies and translation of academic results from proof-of-concept towards prototypes and industrial applications. The centre also integrates research with master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral training. The proposed contribution combines: bioleaching, biomining and biosorption for metal mobilisation and concentration; microbial electrochemical systems, including microbial fuel cells, for process intensification and monitoring; deep eutectic solvents, natural deep eutectic solvents and selective chelating agents for low-impact leaching and separation; chronoamperometric and pulsed-potential electrochemical methods for selective metal recovery from complex leachates.
