Topic 2 – Targeting secondary sources to enhance access to raw materials
TÜBİTAK UME – National Metrology Institute of Türkiye is interested in joining transnational RAMP JTC 2026 consortia under Topic 2 as a research and analytical partner for the recovery of valuable and critical raw materials from secondary sources, particularly electronic waste and complex metal-containing process streams.
We can contribute expertise and infrastructure in the design and synthesis of porous and functional polymeric adsorbents; e-waste pretreatment and hydrometallurgical leaching; selective adsorption, separation and recovery of precious and critical metals from complex multi-element matrices; adsorption–desorption–regeneration and reuse studies; ICP-MS-based quantitative multi-element analysis and mass-balance support; and BET surface-area/porosity measurements with complementary materials characterisation.
Our group has demonstrated polymer-assisted precious-metal recovery from real printed-circuit-board e-waste in peer-reviewed work with related patent protection. We are particularly interested in consortia where our materials, separation and analytical capabilities can complement process engineering, scale-up, pilot validation, sustainability assessment or industrial implementation.
We are open to contributing to defined tasks or work packages and to co-developing the technical work plan with consortium partners.
TÜBİTAK UME – National Metrology Institute of Türkiye is Türkiye’s national metrology institute and combines measurement science with multidisciplinary research and technology development.
The Organic Chemistry Laboratories have experience in synthetic organic chemistry, functional and porous polymer development, adsorption and separation processes, gas capture, heterogeneous catalysis, and selective recovery of valuable metals from electronic waste. Relevant infrastructure includes ICP-MS for quantitative multi-element analysis, BET gas-adsorption and porosity analysis, SEM/TEM, liquid and solid-state NMR, FTIR, Raman and complementary analytical platforms.
The team has experience in international metrology collaborations, method development and traceability-oriented measurement, providing a strong basis for experimental, analytical and validation tasks in transnational projects on secondary raw-material recovery.
