Topic 1 - Ensuring a resilient supply of raw materials from primary sources
The Centre for Mineral Processing Research (CPMin) at the Federal University of Catalão (UFCAT), Brazil, is seeking international partners interested in jointly developing and submitting a research and innovation proposal under the RAMP Joint Transnational Call 2026. Our primary interest is in Topic 1 – Ensuring a resilient supply of raw materials from primary sources, particularly projects addressing the sustainable exploration, extraction, processing, concentration, refining and recovery of critical, strategic and other economically relevant mineral resources.
CPMin is especially interested in cooperation involving:
* Mineral characterization and mineralogical studies;
* Comminution, classification and physical separation;
* Sensor-based and automatic ore sorting;
* Flotation and development of innovative reagents;
* Hydrometallurgical processing and metal recovery;
* Processing of phosphates, rare-earth-bearing minerals and other critical and strategic raw materials;
* Recovery of valuable minerals from low-grade ores, tailings and mining by-products;
* Process modelling, simulation, optimization and digitalization;
* Development of environmentally responsible processing routes;
* Reduction of water, energy and reagent consumption;
* Technical, environmental and economic assessment of mineral-processing technologies;
* Pilot-scale testing and technology validation.
CPMin can contribute scientific expertise, laboratory and pilot-scale mineral-processing capabilities, access to Brazilian mineral resources and case studies, and collaboration with academic and industrial stakeholders in Brazil. Although our main interest is aligned with Topic 1, we are also open to participating in proposals addressing other topics of the RAMP Joint Call 2026, particularly where CPMin’s expertise can contribute to secondary-resource recovery, circularity, resource-efficient production, raw-material value-chain analysis, sustainability and digital transformation. We welcome contact from universities, research institutes, technology providers, mining and mineral-processing companies, equipment manufacturers and other organizations interested in building a complementary transnational consortium. CPMin may participate as a research partner and is also open to discussing work-package leadership, experimental activities, pilot-scale validation and the development of Brazilian case studies. Interested organizations are invited to contact us to discuss potential project concepts, complementary expertise and opportunities for cooperation.
The Centre for Mineral Processing Research (CPMin) is a research and technological development centre affiliated with the Federal University of Catalão (UFCAT), Brazil. CPMin conducts applied research, laboratory testing, process development and technical training across the mineral-processing value chain, working in cooperation with universities, research institutions, mining companies, equipment manufacturers and other industrial partners. Its expertise includes mineral and technological characterization, comminution, classification, physical and magnetic separation, gravity concentration, flotation, sensor-based ore sorting, hydrometallurgy, process simulation and the development of innovative and environmentally responsible processing routes. CPMin also investigates the recovery of valuable materials from low-grade ores, tailings, industrial residues and mining by-products.
The Centre has particular experience and interest in phosphates, rare earth elements, critical and strategic minerals, agrominerals and other resources relevant to the green and digital transitions. Its activities aim to improve resource recovery, process efficiency and product quality while reducing water, energy and reagent consumption and minimizing environmental impacts. CPMin combines scientific expertise with laboratory and pilot-scale capabilities and access to Brazilian mineral resources and industrial case studies. Within international research consortia, the Centre can contribute to experimental programmes, mineral characterization, flowsheet development, process optimization, technology validation, sustainability assessment, researcher training, dissemination and knowledge transfer.
Through national and international cooperation, CPMin seeks to advance innovative mineral-processing technologies, strengthen responsible raw-material supply chains and translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions for industry and society.
