Topic 2 – Targeting secondary sources to enhance access to raw materials
Our potential contributions include comprehensive chemical, mineralogical and physicochemical characterisation of heterogeneous secondary resources; identification and quantification of valuable, critical, strategic and potentially hazardous elements; assessment of material variability and resource potential; and identification of priority fractions for targeted recovery. For mine waste and tailings, geochemical and mineralogical characterisation can be integrated with geophysical information to support resource delineation and targeted reprocessing. For WEEE and urban mining, we can characterise components and processed fractions and assess their potential as secondary feedstocks.
A particular strength is linking raw-material recovery with environmental performance, including assessment of contaminant mobility and leachability, environmental impacts associated with waste storage and reprocessing, and the potential reduction of environmental liabilities through valorisation.
INOE 2000 – Research Institute for Analytical Instrumentation (ICIA), Romania is interested in joining a consortium under the RAMP Joint Call, contributing expertise in advanced analytical characterisation, secondary-resource assessment and environmental impact evaluation.
Our expertise supports the identification and sustainable valorisation of valuable and critical raw materials (CRMs) from mine waste and tailings, mineral-processing and industrial residues, WEEE/e-waste and other urban mining streams.
Our analytical infrastructure includes ICP-MS, ICP-OES, XRF, XRD, ion chromatography, TOC/TN analysis and complementary physicochemical techniques.
ICIA is available to contribute as a research partner in consortia addressing the characterisation, recovery and sustainable management of primary and secondary raw materials.
