Topic 6 – Innovative approaches for analysing raw materials value chains
Current initiatives highlight the growing need for standards addressing traceability, quality assurance, recycling efficiency, and the development of secondary raw materials markets. Despite ongoing efforts, important standardization gaps remain across the raw materials value chain. DIN can support the alignment of project activities with existing standards, identify emerging standardization needs, and facilitate the transfer of research outcomes into European and international standardization processes.
DIN seeks to participate in raw materials projects to strengthen the transfer of research results into practice through standardization. Building on its extensive expertise and its established network within the European and international standardization community, DIN contributes to ensuring that innovative project outcomes can be translated into future standards, specifications, and technical guidance. This enhances the impact, market uptake, and long-term sustainability of project results while supporting the EU's objectives for a secure, resilient, and circular raw materials economy.
At the same time, project participation provides DIN with early access to emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory developments in the raw materials sector. These insights help prepare the ground for future European and international standardization activities and ensure that standardization keeps pace with technological innovation and societal needs.
DIN, German Institute for Standardization, is highly experienced in developing high-quality standards widely accepted and trusted throughout the world. DIN has implemented steamlined standardisation procedures that expedite the standardisation process to keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies. By developing European standards in the early stages of research and innovation, DIN provides services for the dissemination and exploitation of newly invented products, processes or services.
