Topic 4 – Overcoming technological barriers to circularity
Total Plastic Solution (TPS) is seeking European research and innovation partners for collaborative R&D projects that advance circular plastics technology and close the loop in the plastic lifecycle.
TPS already operates an established recycling stream: we collect post-industrial plastic by-products (PP, LDPE, HDPE, Nylon) from manufacturing customers, reprocess them, and produce pelletised PP and LDPE for re-entry into manufacturing as quality secondary feedstock. Regrind of other materials is supplied as generic industrial feedstock. We are actively seeking partners — research organisations, universities, and industry players — to help us:
- Expand the range of polymer types we can reprocess into high-value secondary materials
- Improve the quality and consistency of recycled feedstock through advanced sorting, characterisation or processing technology
- Develop closed-loop supply models integrating recycled content into precision injection moulded products
- Jointly develop or validate new uses for recycled polymer streams in pharmaceutical, medical, automotive and technical applications
We also bring proprietary digital manufacturing technology: our iDSR (Intelligent Digital Signal Reader) provides real-time energy consumption monitoring and digital twin functionality across all production processes — supporting energy efficiency and sustainability objectives in any collaborative project.
We are open to R&D partnerships, technology transfer and commercial supply partnerships with consortia across Europe, with a particular interest in Nordic and Northern European markets.
Total Plastic Solution (TPS), trading through Abbey Moulding Contractors Ltd, is an Irish SME with over 20 years of experience in plastics manufacturing, based in Dromcollogher, Co. Limerick, Ireland.
TPS operates three integrated capability streams:
1. CIRCULAR PLASTICS RECYCLING: TPS collects post-industrial plastic by-products from manufacturing customers and reprocesses them into quality secondary materials. PP and LDPE are produced in pellet form, ready for use as recycled content in manufacturing. Other materials (HDPE, Nylon) are sold as quality regrind for industrial applications. Our mission is to continuously expand the range of materials we can recycle and find higher-value applications for each stream — moving the industry closer to a genuinely circular plastics economy.
2. PRECISION INJECTION MOULDING: Using a fleet of KraussMaffei, Borche, Fanuc, Arburg and Haitian machines (9T–250T), TPS produces precision-engineered components in PP, PC, ABS, LDPE/HDPE, PMMA, PA6, PC/ABS, PET and other engineering polymers. We serve pharmaceutical, medical, automotive, agricultural and consumer goods sectors with 100% inspection and full traceability.
3. MACHINE BUILDING, AUTOMATION & DIGITAL MANUFACTURING: TPS designs and builds custom OEM automation systems and has developed two proprietary technologies: MaHaSy (in-house ERP and material handling system) and iDSR (Intelligent Digital Signal Reader), which provides real-time machine performance monitoring, energy consumption tracking and digital twin functionality across all production processes.
TPS is an ambitious, pioneering Irish SME actively pursuing European expansion, seeking research and industrial partnerships to develop the next generation of circular plastics technologies and grow our recycling and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
